Official Timing and Lights
Below is the official ASC Timing Sheet, which outlines when the coloured lights should appear based on the type of speech being delivered.
For competition speeches, the maximum allowed time is 8 minutes, so the timings in the table are fixed accordingly. The same applies to the 3-minute Topics competition and the Speech Evaluation.
For 10-minute speeches or 10-minute general evaluations, refer to the “Other Timing” and “General Evaluation” rows in the table. The timing for a 10-minute speech is as follows:
- Green light: 7 minutes
- Amber light: 8 minutes
- Red light: 9 minutes
- Light off: 10 minutes
